Thank you for your interest in graduate study in psychology at The Ohio State University.  By following the instructions on this page you will complete both your Psychology and Ohio State Graduate School Applications online.

Important Deadlines

November 11, 27 and 28, December 25 and 26, 2008 and January 1, 2009 are holidays.

Domestic applications completed by December 15, 2008

International applications completed by December 1, 2008

Transcripts take 2-4 weeks to be processed by the Admissions Office.

Please Note

The Psychology Department ONLY Admits During Autumn Quarter Each Year.
The Psychology Department ONLY Admits Students Interested in Acquiring a Ph.D.

Things You Do Online

1.) Complete Department of Psychology Application--AVAILABLE--July 1, 2008

When you click "next" at the bottom of this page you can fill out the Psychology application.  The Psychology application is free.                                                               

You Will Need:

a.) Information on all Psychology courses taken (Course, Instructor, Grade, Credit Hrs)
 

b.) Autobiographical Statement:
This statement is very important. It should not exceed 600 words (about two typed and double spaced pages). Please describe why you wish to pursue graduate study, why you chose psychology as your major field of graduate study, and why you are interested in attending Ohio State.
 

c.) Vitae/Resume (no more than 2 pages)  required of all applicants who wish to be considered for a Graduate School Fellowships.

d.) References: The names of three people writing your letters of recommendation. 

  1. Recommendation forms--use electronic forms on the Graduate Application web site. Electronic forms cannot be accessed until you submit the Graduate Applicantion and pay the application fee. The recommendation form is attached to the electronic forms and is included when sent by the recommender. When recommendation letters are sent electronically--there is no need to send a hard copy. Electronic letters are received by the Psychology Department. You can track the status of your letters in the "review activity" on that site.

2.) Complete Ohio State University Graduate School Application-- AVAILABLE-- Oct. 6, 2008

You Will Need: a Credit Card (Fee: $40 domestic, $50 International)


Make Sure You Complete the Financial Aid section of Graduate School Application for Fellowships, Teaching Associateships and Research Associates by checking the boxes!

Things You Do By Mail: Send two OFFICIAL (do not send copies) Transcript from EACH School Attended.

Transcripts take 2-4 weeks to process.  
  1. Have Your Official General GRE Scores Sent to Ohio State (1592) Psychology (2016).  International Students Must Submit OFFICIAL TOEFL Scores if they have not graduated from an accredited U.S. university or college.  Only the GRE test with the verbal, quant. and analytical written section will be accepted.

  2. Applicants can check the status of their Graduate School application, gre, toefl, and transcripts on the admissions web site-- http://appstatus.osu.edu    Applicants cannot check the status until the application is submitted.
